Other Hats I've Worn

Like many teachers, I have had a range of 2nd and 3rd jobs and volunteer positions. Here are a few.

The CAFE Youth Center

Hired to help launch a brand-new youth center in a former bagel shop, designed as a “third space”, a safe, casual environment beyond home and school where teens can gather, create, and connectOversaw all startup logistics: space setup, equipment wishlists, community outreach, and board relationsBuilt programming around games, music, and cooking, progressing from no-bake cookie mixes to full cheesecakesCreated a warm, consistent environment that now draws a dozen regular attendeesStructured weekly themes and collaborative activities that encouraged ownership and participation

Enosburg Falls Opera House

Managed venue operations for a historic 19th-century performance space: calendar booking, event setup, sound/lighting coordination, teardown, and interfacing with town officials and vendorsHelped transform the Opera House into a reliable hub for community events, performances, and rentalsReturned to the space more recently as custodian, simply because of a strong personal connection to the building

Creative Projects

I enjoy playing music with other people and creating audio and video content when the mood strikes

The Mountain Says No

For over a decade The Mountain Says No has been rocking northern Vermont. We are an original rock band with four albums. While venues for original music are few and shrinking, we welcome the opportunity to share our music with others.

Joe Lavesque Big Band

For several years, I had the pleasure of being a sax section substitute for the Joe Lavesque Big Band. During and after their run as the stage band for The Spirit of Ethan Allen, I performed with the band dozens of times on whichever saxophone part needed to be covered that evening. It was a rewarding challenge that grew my confidence as a reader and improviser

Timelapse Videos

I love creating timelapse videos. Using GoPros over the years, I have done timelapse videos of clouds, riding my 50cc scooter, walking, and last April a really good one of the full eclipse.

AI Garbage

Early AI image generation rarely created anything usable if you wanted normal content, but it could certainly do weird. I used several AI platforms to create this music video for my band and several other equally strange pieces of video content.

About Me

I’m Andy Frappier, but most people just call me Frapp. I’ve taught music to kids and teens for over 20 years, run a bunch of programs, and said yes to a lot of odd jobs that needed doing. I like building things from scratch, making stuff work, and keeping things honest. I’m into music, tech, travel, camping, and figuring things out as I go. Lately I’ve been focused on, traveling across the country, and experimenting with AI.I have lived in Vermont for almost my entire life. I have a deep love for this awesome little state, but I have also always wanted to explore the rest of the USA and settle in another location for a while, which is what I will be doing this fall.
